The project deals with the connection of products containing analog and digital components. The findings from the investigations of details were exemplarily transferred into a music system.
Products with digital and analog components are often designed separately.
A human-machine interaction is usually achieved through vision, tactile feeling and hearing.
In order to increase the user's understanding of the product, a combination of different details can be created. The knowledge gained in the work was transferred into a music system.
"Harmony" is a music system with a central, portable interaction element. The personal music of the user is stored here. It can be played on different devices by simply hanging it up. The music is controlled via the interaction element and at the same time experienced in a multimodal way. Two interaction elements together enable a common musical experience. The system determines an intersection from the genres of the respective users and thus creates a new playlist. Haptic, acoustic and visual details create a connection between digital and analog components. This increases the understanding of the product system and the user experience.

Observation
In the first test series, the behavior of different users was recorded with the help of a GoPro. The opening of a door was documented.
A projection located at the door irritated the user and led to him trying to open the door although it was a fire door acted.
Experts interview
In the further course of the masther thesis there was an interview with the two founders of
Nui Lab Ron Jagodzinski and Götz Wintergerst.
Two experts on haptic identity of products. With the help of a questionnaire, important questions could be clarified and helpful knowledge gained.
Open card sorting
In order to develop a comprehensible functional architecture for the music system "Harmony",
the card sorting method was used. First, all relevant functions were listed on post it's, categorized and related in the further process.
Storytelling
This method serves to convey information,
values and goals to a potential user in a targeted
manner. In most cases, a fictitious story is considered, which covers all important points.
of the product. This method was also used for "Harmony" in order to communicate the value of the product to potential users.
Prototyping
After an extensive analysis phase, it was
necessary to generate our own series of experiments. Prototypes based on processing
was created. The result was three exhibits that focused on the haptic perception of the test subjects.
